Revealing in Design Brilliance: 2023 Laureates of the Kyoto Global Design Awards

In collaboration with Kyoto Global Design Awards (KGDA) we are delighted to unveil the winners of the 2023 edition - an annual celebration of outstanding design from around the world.

2023 KGDA winner in Best 100 - 3XN + SLA Architects 


A distinguished panel of jurors, encompassing architects, journalists, photographers, and visionary creative directors from various nations, painstakingly assessed over 680 submissions, carefully selecting the most ingenious works. 


2023 KGDA winner in Environment - Innovation Park Artificial Intelligence by MVRDV 


The award celebration reverberated with acclamation as functional ingenuity, avant-garde aesthetics, groundbreaking architectural systems, and resplendent finishes all earned their rightful spotlight. KGDA's ethos orbits around Sustainable Design: Reduce, Reuse, Reform, underscoring our commitment to embracing ecological wisdom and forging a renewed communion with our precious environment. 


2023 KGDA winner in Thoery - Non-Extractive Architecture by Space Caviar 


Winners hail from over 45 countries, showcasing the global reach and excellence of the international design community in this year's KGDA. Notable accolades were conferred upon luminaries such as Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto, Dutch firm MVRDV, American SOM, Brazilian Studio MK27, Danish 3XN Architects and SLA, along with the esteemed contributions of innovators Singaporean BLINK Group, Danish Norm Architects, Greek A.S. Strategy, and Italian Pedevilla Architects and Mask Architects, among other remarkable talents.


2023 KGDA winner in Industrial - Spark Sofa by Jun Wang Studio 


The focal point of this year's Kyoto Global Design Awards (KGDA) lies in the dedicated spotlight on "Sustainability". This category celebrates outstanding designers who steadfastly adhere to principles deeply ingrained in sustainability and wholeheartedly embrace the concept of a circular economy. Distinguished design works such as Grey Colombia for their Life Extending Stickers, Plasticity for Sabi, NOWN for InfiKnitTM, and A-01 for the No Footprint House (NFH), along with other eco-conscious designs, have distinguished themselves in the realm of eco-design, placing a premium on the utilization of sustainable and recyclable materials.

The 2023 awards celebration in Kyoto, Japan, at the Ace Hotel on November 15 is more than a tribute to design excellence. It is a gateway to the rich tapestry of Japanese culture, offering attendees a chance to immerse themselves in its traditions and artistry. Beyond this, it serves as a dynamic networking platform, connecting participants with a global community of creatives. This event transcends design, providing a unique opportunity to form meaningful collaborations and foster ideas that extend far beyond aesthetic boundaries.

As part of the celebration, brands and designers will have the opportunity to engage in brief interviews with media partners and editorial staff of Kyoto Global Design Awards, enabling them to share their design philosophies and insights. This event promises to be a grand gathering of hundreds of talented designers, fostering a vibrant exchange of ideas and experiences.
