LA QUEROLA D’ORDINO: A Sustainable Luxury Oasis in the Heart of Andorra

January 30, 2024

In a world where the concepts of luxury and sustainability are coming together to redefine modern living, La Querola D’Ordino emerges as a beacon of environmental consciousness and opulence. Recently awarded the prestigious title of Best Luxury Sustainable Architecture Residential Development, 2023 by Luxury Lifestyle Awards, this remarkable project, nestled in the heart of the Valle de Ordino, Andorra, represents a new way of life – one that beautifully marries nature with modernity.

Setting New Standards in Sustainable Luxury

La Querola D’Ordino is not just a residential complex; it's a testament to visionary architecture and responsible living. Designed by world-renowned architect Jean Nouvel, in collaboration with Josep Ribas and Jordi Sala, this development embodies the luxury of simplicity while seamlessly blending with the pristine natural surroundings. It's a place where every stone, every beam of wood, and every detail has been meticulously considered to create a harmonious living environment.

A Sustainable Oasis

La Querola D’Ordino is a model of sustainable living, setting new standards for the industry. The development showcases an unwavering commitment to ecological awareness, ensuring that every aspect of the project adheres to sustainability principles. The entire community is powered by geothermal energy systems, demonstrating remarkable energy efficiency and cost savings for residents. These energy-efficient features have allowed the project to attain A-Level Energy Certifications, underlining its dedication to sustainability.

Environmental Integration and Contemporary Elegance

The project's architecture and design have been carefully thought out to embrace the surrounding environment. Seven monolithic structures define the landscape, crafted from stone, wood, steel, and glass. The north façades with their wavy skins of slate slabs, glass openings, balconies, and covered terraces seamlessly blend with the granitic landscape in front, while the south façades, made of treated wood and glass, open into the lush forest, welcoming abundant natural light. The project is not just a residential development; it's a symphony of design and nature where each element is designed to complement the other.

Community Spaces and Nature

At La Querola D’Ordino, community living takes on a whole new dimension. Communal spaces have been thoughtfully designed to please the eye and the mind. From the spacious reception area to the spa, pools, and gardens, every space is an invitation to socialize, relax, or simply enjoy nature. The gardens are adorned with local species, rocks, ponds, walking paths, and staircases that connect the seven buildings, all recreating the surrounding environment with a contemporary touch. It's a place where residents can truly connect with the environment.

A Collaborative Masterpiece

The success of La Querola D’Ordino is a result of a brilliant collaboration. French architect Jean Nouvel, renowned for his iconic architectural designs, leads the project. In collaboration with Barcelona-based Josep Ribas of Ribas & Ribas Arquitectos and Andorra-based Jordi Sala of Arquitectura Jordi Sala, the team has achieved a seamless fusion of design, sustainability, and luxury.

A Legacy of Sustainability

The DNA of La Querola D’Ordino is rooted in people, sustainability, and the environment. Every aspect of this project has been meticulously considered to minimize its environmental footprint while providing residents with a truly luxurious living experience. As sustainability becomes increasingly important in modern living, La Querola D’Ordino stands out for its commitment to creating a legacy of sustainable luxury.
