Alexandrine Lukach, Ukrainian interior designer transformed the classic interior of Kyiv's apartment into a modern eclectic by integrating 196 contemporary design objects of 42 Ukrainian designers and artists.

The owner of the apartment is an art collector. Most of the time he and his family live abroad. He invited Alexandrine Lukach, cheef-designer of Intemporary Design Studio three years after all works on the original interior had been finished to refresh the atmosphere and dramatically change its mood, make it younger and rethink the original classic interior but without any radical intrusion.

One of the requests was to avoid radical intrusions, without taking down walls, repainting walls and ceilings, and changing floors. In the living room the walls are painted, in the lobby are covered by wood, while other spaces have wallpapers.
In the lobby there are some walls covered with mirrors. So the designer worked with modern art and some decorative objects, change lamps, some small furniture, home textile and rugs.

"I'm sure that nowadays you can create a modern and vibrant interior only if you fluently mix traditions of different epochs and styles. To achieve balance you need to enhance functionality by bold artistic accents and decorative objects which resonate with the personality of the home's owner."
- Alexandrine Lukach

European conceptual design galleries inspired the designer to create a modern space where all design objects and textiles, all accessories, and sculptures enrich the interior with new ideas. The designer aimed to transfigurate it by replacing and adding some new details which would have to be of a comparable level of expression and aesthetic, functional, and intellectual impression. Alexandrine needed some really unique design pieces, preferably of collectible design.

"I had had some experience with Ukrainian designers and artists on my previous interior projects. So I was sure I could find everything I needed among Ukrainian design objects in craftsmanship workshops and design salons in Kyiv. The client who collected art objects totally supported me in using local objects."

There is wooden parquet in living zones that give the cosy atmosphere while in the bathroom and common premises the floors are covered by marble.
